About the Multiple Myeloma Scientific Agenda
Developed by the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, with the help of the broader scientific community, the Multiple Myeloma Scientific Agenda is a three-year plan to bring new and combination therapies to patients as quickly as possible while rapidly advancing our understanding of the disease.
Why the Scientific Agenda Was Developed
With the advent of new scientific advances-such as genomics, proteomics, and the development of new technologies-scientists are now equipped with new tools to advance research efforts that did not exist just a few years ago. Recognizing the tremendous opportunities these scientific and technological advances present, the MMRF sought to evolve its Scientific Agenda to apply these exciting advances to the field of myeloma. This would ensure that we maximize each dollar raised by funding innovative research efforts that offer the greatest potential to advance myeloma research and drug discovery.
2007 Scientific Agenda

In updating this cutting-edge research plan for 2007, we undertook a rigorous process to prioritize key research areas. This systematic process included extensive one-on-one interviews and collaborative teleconferences with technology pioneers and, most recently, a novel Research Roundtable comprised of an extraordinary assembly of academic scientists, industry, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
From these proceedings, the MMRF worked with Roundtable participants to identify several high-impact programs that will guide the MMRF's strategy. These cutting-edge programs, including a focus on proteomics, imaging, and new validation models, have the potential to significantly impact patients' lives.
A series of online video presentations from the Roundtable are now available.
